OSP Engages Over 1,500 Students of Accra Girls SHS in Fight Against Corruption
4 June 2025
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), as part of its national Youth Against Corruption (YAC) initiative, has empowered more than 1,500 students of Accra Girls Senior High School to stand against corruption and become champions of integrity.
Held on 27 May, 2025, the engagement took the form of two highly interactive sessions designed to educate and inspire the young participants and facilitated by representatives from the OSP. In total, more than 1500 students participated in the sensitization activity.
The outreach aimed to deepen students’ understanding of corruption, its consequences, and the proactive role they can play in preventing it as they transition into adulthood and higher education. Central to the discussions was the message that integrity begins with the individual, a theme encapsulated by the campaign’s mantra: “Integrity starts with you.”
When quizzed about their knowledge of the OSP, many responded that it investigates, arrests, and prosecutes offenders, thus displaying a growing public awareness of the OSP.
Moderators took the opportunity to clarify the OSP’s full mandate: to investigate and prosecute corruption-related offenses, recover stolen assets, and prevent corruption through public education and advocacy.
The lively Q&A session tackled pressing concerns such as the challenges of whistleblowing, the possibility of false accusations, and whether nepotism counts as corruption.
Students also learned that successful whistleblowers may receive up to 10% of any recovered stolen assets.
The session ended with a wave of optimism and commitment, as students pledged to uphold the values of honesty and accountability in their daily lives.
