The NPA – UPPF Scandal


The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into alleged corruption and related offences concerning the reported misappropriation of GHS 1.3 billion from the Unified Petroleum Pricing Fund (UPPF) at the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

The inquiry is centred on the involvement of the UPPF Coordinator, Jacob Amuah; NPA officials Freda Tandoh and Wendy Ashong Newman; and the former Chief Executive of the NPA, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid.

As at 25 July 2025, only the first accused, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, had met his bail conditions. The remaining six accused person were unable to do so and have since been remanded into custody.
