Illegal Mining

Investigation is ongoing into suspected corruption and related offences regarding illegal mining – referred to as Galamsey. The investigation targets officials of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Forestry Commission, as well as the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), focusing on their management of seized equipment and gold.
